Elephants under the mountain. Big elephant herds, open swamps and Kilimanjaro on the horizon when the clouds allow it.
Amboseli is small, flat and very easy to love. The swamps fed by Kilimanjaro’s snowmelt keep the park green through the dry months, and the elephants come in long family lines to drink and wallow.
Two nights is usually right. Plan an early drive for the mountain views and keep the afternoon for the swamps, where the herds gather.
